Young patients at Rush University Children's Hospital spent three months exploring the sounds that surrounded them. From heart monitors as rhythm sections to emergency calls as sampled vocals, patients learned to find beauty in the mundane, capturing sounds and transforming them into original compositions. The result is Sound Effects, a full-length compact disc of original music and a remarkable audio journey that delves the depths of the adolescent hospital experience and finds the music in "everyday" life.
Snow City Arts Foundation would like to thank Columbia College Chicago and its Audio Arts and Acoustics department whose partnership in developing and implementing this project was invaluable. Sound Effects was made possible in part through the support of the Columbia College Office of Community Arts Partnerships.
