| Visiting Artist Guillermo Delgado On a bitterly cold day in February, I had a special opportunity to visit with the Snow Arts artists and young patients at Stroger hospital in Chicago. This was my first time visiting with Snow City Arts and it's an experience I'll never forget. I led a workshop in art and literacy. The students (patients) and staff artists in the room all participated and made beautiful poetry books with me. Time flew and the morning workshop was over before I knew it. I must admit it was hard to leave after the workshop, I was really moved by the experience. When the workshop was over I had remembered that... Almost twenty years ago, I was in the hospital for an extended period of time. While in the hospital, an occupational therapist came to my room with some art supplies and asked if I wanted to make some art with her. I agreed and that decision changed my life forever. Today, I continue to make and teach art because of that day of making art in the hospital. I am thankful to Snow City Arts for the chance to return the favor. back to contents |
