Our Visual Arts Workshop introduces young patients to all types of arts ranging from painting and drawing to making short films. Activities are created for every child's skill and ability level with the goal of introducing young patients to new types of art and new ways of thinking about them. Whether they are learning to draw, paint, use a camera, or create a short film, we ensure that the children learn not only how to complete a work of art, but to think about the content of their art.

Each day through our Young Directors Program, children learn to make short films from beginning to end, including writing dialogue, filming and camera use, and even editing their own films via computer. Films created by children in our programs have been featured at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.

Currently, patients of Rush Children's Hospital are creating an in-house television station produced through Snow City Arts. For the first show, children will be creating their own arts and news program, and will be responsible for writing and creating segments, filming, editing, and broadcasting. Stay tuned for more information and clips of kids' shows.

Spirit of the Animals
Through an exploration of animal symbolism around the globe, children identified animals that shared their own characteristics, creating images based on this kinship. Spirit of the Animals bridges the past with the present, celebrating both the individual and universal aspects of the human spirit. Visit Our Gallery
